Sadly, for many adult riders the description above is a far cry from the reality of their true riding experience. They have lost confidence and trust in themselves and in their horses. The horse has also lost confidence and trust in the rider. The result is resistance, spooking, bucking, bolting, rearing. There is no joy for either the horse or the rider. Riding has become "work" when it should be "play".
